Country & Western
During Great Depression in the 1930’s and World War II 1939-1945, Country music spread further afield and began to take on traits of Blues and Gospel music as it travelled. Western swing emerged when the Texas-Oklahoma region was infused with the swing jazz sound of the Black Orchestras Earnest Tubb and Hank Williams introduced steel amplified guitars and the Honky-tonk sound was born of lyrics, telling what rural whites lost spending by time away from their families, friends, traditions, and their beloved mountains, in search of a wage. |
