Country Music Historical Narrative starts with Jimmie Rodgers, who was the first country singing star. Rodgers was born in Meridian, Mississippi and his career spanned the 1920’s and 1930’s. John Carson was the first to have a country music broadcast on the road and recorded in 1922. In the 1930’s the Carter family soon joined in and country music significantly impacted radio listeners’ numbers.
The first county music house The Grand Ole Opry, was opened in Nashville in 1942 which made it a mecca for all country stars. In the 1950’s and 1960’s hosted singers like Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, Tex Ritter, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard and Charley Pride. Since then, an array of country music artist have flourished, like Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Randy Traves, Garth Brooks, Emmylou Harris and Lyle Lovett.
